Joshua Hackett is Head of Casualty for Munich Re US, overseeing teams underwriting diversified casualty and professional lines treaties in the US. Prior to joining Munich Re in 2025, Josh was Chief Underwriting Officer of Longtail Casualty & Specialty lines at Arch Reinsurance Company where he spent 8+ years managing a team underwriting PL, GL, Auto, Workers Comp, Cyber and structured liability. Before joining Arch Re, Josh worked as VP of Treaty Underwriting for Swiss Re in the US, was employed as an Equity Research Associate at Goldman Sachs in New York, and prior spent 5 years at Endurance Re (now: Sompo) in the underwriting of Casualty, Auto and regional multiline treaties. Josh started his nearly 20 year long insurance career at Zurich Financial Insurance Company, as a member of their Global Associate Program specializing in Commercial Property. Josh holds a dual BA from University of Delaware, a Master’s degree from UCSD School of Global Policy & Strategy and is a chartered CPCU. He also holds the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation. He lives in Madison, NJ with his wife and two sons.
